I am always in awe of the Lord.  Why not?  He is totally faithful to His word.  For example:

     Then the Lord said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.''  Jeremiah 1:12

      You have magnified Your word above all Your name. Psalms 138:2

Gustav... predicted by the computers and the experts to pass over Jamaica and Cuba then, turn to the Gulf of Mexico  In Jamaica, it was a tropical storm.  In Cuba, still only a tropical storm.  But, over the heat of the Gulf of Mexico, this was to be another category 5 hurricane!!

New Orleans fled the scene, evacuating over a million people!  They were overtaken by fear of the unknown and a projected path of disaster.  And the storm size increased to over 400 miles wide and wind speeds grew from a category 1, then a category 2, then a category 3 hurricane!  Disaster was on the brink!

      Except....

       "When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,  if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7: 13-14

       Then He (Jesus) arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!'' And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?''  And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!''  Mark 4:39-41

Hurricane Gustav never became a category 5 hurricane.  The weather predictions were wrong.  Hurricane Gustav, in fact, after becoming a category 3 hurricane with wind speeds of 150 miles per hour, suddenly changed.  It slowed down.  It slowed to a category 2, and was quickly downgraded to a category 1 as it made landfall.  Who can this be that the wind and the sea obey Him? 

The difference between this storm and Hurricane Katrina is the power of prayer.  For a brief time, the country came together and prayed diligently for this nation, Under God, because of the certainty that another category 5 storm would be devastating.  Homes would be swept away, power lost, people displaced, injured, or dead!

Did this country come together in prayer?  Did YOU pray?  There was no George Bush, John McCain, or Barak Obama call to prayer.  Did God hear His people called by His name?  I surely believe so.  My faith is increased by the surety of a storm that should devastate like a lion becoming meek like a lamb in comparison.  Every American should take an opportunity to recognize the faithfulness of God to His word that He will execute because it is so important to Him, He holds His word in greater esteem than Himself.  Could you hold your word up higher than yourself?  Would you die for the word that comes from your lips?  God did by having Jesus go to the cross so that an unbelieving world would have some-ONE to believe in.

If you believe that this was a coincidence, let's once again examine the Word of God and see....

     by the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established. Deuteronomy 19:15

Is there another time in our recent history when a hurricane was turned around by the power of prayer?  Would this establish the matter as you would now have two pieces of evidence?

Let me establish the date - it was September 11, 2001.  It was the day that the two towers fell, the Pentagon was struck, and Flight 93 was grounded in a field in Pennsylvania.  It was a day that the president did not call for a day of prayer, but God's people prayed.  We didn't know what would happen that day, or the next day, but the world changed.  What does this have to do with a hurricane?  Read this about September 11. 

Two hurricanes turned, rebuked, changed and thrown off by the power of prayer. 

      The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16

We have in our hands a tool to change this country. 

      First - ask for personal forgiveness ( your righteousness is established )
 Second - ask God to forgive the leaders of this country, including our judges, legislators, congressmen
                by whose vote things are allowed that should not be allowed, like same-sex marriages.
    Third - ask God to forgive the church for not believing.
  Fourth - pray for your family.  They need it.  Perhaps this is your first time - it's okay.  God's been waiting to hear from you.

Lastly the goal of writing to you is so that you will know, as I know, God Is, and Will Be and He is Faithful.
